ST. CLOUD TIMES— The weird spring weather has put everyone a little behind schedule, including the community garden at St. Cloud State University.
Tracy Ore said the group is about two weeks behind in getting the garden plots and raised beds planted. She coordinates the garden and is a sociology professor.
“I think everybody is. Farmers are just getting in the ground now,” she said. “I’m hoping that we have a longer fall season and that it’s warmer.”
Several people spent part of Saturday preparing the garden for planting. They set up fencing for tomatoes, made row hills to plant greens and set up the irrigation system.
New this year is a gazebo being built near one of the garden plots.
“That’s going to be a space for the community and the campus to use,” she said. She hopes to finish the building by June and have a dedication event a few weeks later.
