Scott L. Miller, professor of music, is one of four Minnesotans honored as a 2018 McKnight Composer Fellow.
Miller is the recipient of an unrestricted $25,000 grant that acknowledges excellence in music composition.
He composes electroacoustic, orchestral, chamber, choral and multimedia works performed at venues throughout North America and Europe. He teaches composition, electronic music and music theory.
Miller is a three-time McKnight Composer Fellow. The former Fulbright Scholar has also been honored by the Jerome Foundation, the Minnesota State Arts Board and the MUSICA NOVA 98 International Electroacoustic Music Competition.
Employed at St. Cloud State since 1993, Miller holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY-Oneonta, a master’s degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctorate from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
He is past-president of the Society for ElectroAcoustic Music in the U.S. (SEAMUS). He is director of SEAMUS Records.
