ST. CLOUD TIMES — Whether it’s a night club shooting or wildfires, Patrick Newell’s hometown has been in the news non-stop.
The St. Cloud State men’s hockey player is like many in these parts. He’s calling family and friends and learning what he can.
Newell is from Thousand Oaks, California, or the “T.O.” as he calls it.
While things are going swimmingly for the Huskies, the “T.O.” has been chaotic.
St. Cloud State, ranked No. 2 in the nation, plays Bemidji State in a weekend series at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
The Huskies (4-0 NCHC, 9-1 overall) face the Beavers (3-1, 5-2-1) at 7:07 p.m. Friday and 6:07 p.m. Saturday. The game Friday is televised on Charter Cable 426 and on Saturday by Fox Sports North Plus.
Newell’s hometown of Thousand Oaks, meanwhile, has been all over the television news. A shooter killed 12 people and himself in a mass shooting at a night club.
