Rich MacDonald has been named the 2019-20 Alnwick Academic Director. He would be lying if he said he was not excited about this opportunity. Professor MacDonald is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics.
MacDonald is humbled to have been selected for this position. He hopes to draw intellectual reflection out of students during his tenure. Likely focusing coursework more on liberal education, he hopes to see students grow as well as expand their perceptions of the world.
The educational experience at Alnwick is “less bookish and more real-world” according to MacDonald. Surrounded by artwork and furniture that is hundreds of years old as well as the presence a slight chill in the air, there is something magical that happens when you live and learn at Alnwick Castle. It is a special learning environment for students.
MacDonald’s family is supportive and excited about this opportunity. They almost immediately starting planning their trips to visit (yes, more than one).
