The St. Cloud State University Foundation selected Jim ’73 and Ann Marie Maciej as its 2019 Visionary Award recipients, and they were recognized at the Foundation’s annual Gala Sept. 26 in the Atwood Memorial Center Ballroom on campus.
Jim received his bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State in 1973 in Local and Urban Affairs. He, and his wife, Ann Marie (Miller) Maciej, who spent her professional life in the nursing field, were recognized for their philanthropy to the School of Health and Human Services with the naming of the Maciej Nursing Education Suite in 2018.
Jim Maciej has been president/owner of JVM Realty Advisors, Inc. since 1997. Previously Jim owned Accent Realty until its sale to Griffin Companies in 1995. From 1977-1997, he served in leadership positions with Griffin Companies, Accent Companies and Woodward&Associates. Previously, he held positions with the U.S. Small Business Association and the Minnesota Department of Economic Development.
Ann Marie served as a coronary care nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Paul and St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls. She was employed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina for 35 yeras. She received her nursing degree at St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Duluth and is a graduate of the Mayo Heart Institute in Rochester and the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia.
Jim Maciej is a past president of MNCAR (Minnesota Commercial Area Realtors), Foundation board member, past chair of the Economic Development Association of Minnesota (EDAM) and a member of various other investment real estate boards.
Jim received “The Boblett Award,” Mid-Continent Chapter of the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors (SIOR), in 2003 and 2004. This award is presented to a real estate industry leader in recognition of outstanding contributions to the industry, the organization and to the community. The award is the highest honor given to one of its members.
Jim served as a member of the SCSU Foundation board from 2008-2017. He has been instrumental in scholarship gifts St. Cloud State received from the Economic Development Association of Minnesota. Jim and Ann Marie have been President’s Club members since 1997 and are members of the Heritage Society.
