St. Cloud State University is hosting one of five Capacity Building program for U.S. Study Abroad Initiatives, in-person workshops presented by World Learning in 2020 designed to support the expansion and diversification of American student mobility.
The free workshops are part of the Capacity Building Program for U.S. Study Abroad with the goal of bolstering the capacity and knowledge of sharing of U.S. higher education in support of expanding American student mobility overseas.
The workshops will convey best practices in study abroad capacity building, increase knowledge sharing and networking and provide capacity building resources to the wider U.S. study abroad community.
The St. Cloud State workshop 8:30-4:30 p.m. May 1 will focus on recruiting and supporting students from underrepresented groups.
Additional workshops are at California State University, Bakersfield, Jan. 20 on campus outreach and recruitment; University of North Carolina, Charlotte, Jan. 31 on faculty-led study abroad; University of Georgia, Feb. 28 on faculty-led study abroad; and Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, May 1 on assessment and evaluation. Registrations for the workshops must be submitted by 8 p.m. Oct. 25.
The workshops are for stakeholders from accredited U.S. higher education institutions with roles such as study abroad advisers, faculty and other staff involved with study abroad at their institutions. Locations for the conferences were selected through a competitive application process. The workshops are being offered at the direction of the U.S. Department of State’s USA Study Abroad Branch within the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs with funding provided by the U. S. government.
