ST. CLOUD TIMES — During the last several decades, two sisters have become known as area leaders in sexual assault advocacy, education and prevention.
Peggy ’80 and Lee ’84 ’91 LaDue have been working in the field in Central Minnesota since the early 1990s and have, between the two of them, more than 50 years experience.
“There have been positive changes and you’re able to see that,” Peggy said. “There are lots and lots of times where it feels like it’s just the same old, same old … that’s definitely the hardest part of the work.”
But the good outweighs the hardships for Peggy, director of the Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center, and Lee, assistant director of the St. Cloud State University Women’s Center and coordinator of the gender violence prevention program.
“I think about sometimes just what a privilege it is to be trusted enough to be with someone at their most vulnerable and kind of walk along with them on that journey,” Lee said.
