ST. CLOUD TIMES — At Monday morning’s Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast and Day of Service program, approximately 1,600 attendees gathered to do what the keynote speaker said she fears we don’t do enough of: Listen closely.
Speaker Valerie Jarrett is a senior adviser to the Obama Foundation. She was the longest-serving senior adviser to President Barack Obama, during which time she oversaw the Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs and chaired the White House Council on Women and Girls. She is a senior distinguished fellow at the University of Chicago Law School and board president of When We All Vote.
Jarrett spoke with attendees about her law career, start in local government and takeaways from her relationships with Barack and Michelle Obama. During the interview, conducted by Annesa Cheek, president of St. Cloud Technical and Community College, Jarrett encouraged the crowd to share more of their stories.
