Shrestha ’12 elected to board of American Association of Geographers

Rupak Shrestha ’12 has been elected to serve on the board of The American Association of Geographers’ Political Geography Specialty Group. His term: 2020-2021.

Shrestha is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Department of Geography.

Graduating from St. Cloud State in 2012 with degrees in geography and travel and tourism as well as a minor in geographic information systems, Shrestha went on to earn his master’s degree in geography from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

According to his curriculum vitae, Shrestha’s studies and expertise focus on political geography, developmental geography, Nepal and the Himalayas, borders, sovereignty, territory, feminist methodologies, and visual geographies.

The American Association of Geographers is a nonprofit scientific and educational society focusing on the theory, methods, and practice of geography.
