Three St. Cloud State University professors are among the seven area professionals who will present at the virtual TEDxStCloud Oct. 8.
Dr. Matthew Davis, Dr. Jennifer Lamb and Dr. Christopher Lehman will speak from the Paramount Theatre stage during the event at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 8. Their presentations will be streamed live on the TEDxStCloud website and VR. The theme for the fourth TEDxStCloud is Metamorph.
The event is free to view this year. In a typical year admission is $45. To register, go to TEDxStCloud.com and hit the registration button.
“Thanks to our partners, we are able to provide free access for the online event,” said Brian Hart, a TEDxStCloud planner. “If students have been curious about TEDxStCloud in the past, but the ticket cost got in the way, this is a perfect opportunity to experience our event.”
Lehman is a professor of ethnic studies at St. Cloud State and chair of the Department of Ethnic, Gender and Women’s Studies. He is the author of six books including “Slavery’s Reach”, which one a Minnesota Book Award earlier this year.
Davis and Lamb are associate professors of biology at St. Cloud State and will co-present. Davis’ work examines the patterns and processes of evolution in marine environments and evolutionary adaptations to those habitats including bioluminescence and biofluoresence. Lamb’s work explores the biology, ecology and history of amphibians. Her current research focuses on the understudied area of biofluorescence in amphibians.
