St. Cloud State University has earned the 2021-22 Military Spouse Friendly® School designation, the first time the university has received this designation.
The Military Spouse Friendly designation is awarded to institutions which display continued commitment, hard work and dedication to the military community and their families.
“The St. Cloud State community has come together over the years to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for the spouses of our military service members and their families,” said Zac Mangas, St. Cloud State Veterans Resource Center director. “Whether it be social events geared towards non-traditional students, assistance when loved ones are deployed, navigating education benefits and resources, or taking time to address the specific needs of these students — such as child care or financial challenges — the community is stepping up to help ease the heavy burden taken on by these families.
“We greatly appreciate the sacrifices they all make so their loved ones can continue their military service.”
The Military Spouse Friendly designation joins other veterans-related accolades for St. Cloud State including the 2021 Military Friendly Top 10 School designation, ranking No. 4 in the Large Public category, and the 2020 ‘Best for Vets” ranking by Military Times. The Fighting Saints Battalion, a joint Army ROTC program between St. Cloud State, St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict, ranked No. 1 in Minnesota in 2020.
St. Cloud State was one of only four Minnesota colleges or universities, all of which are Minnesota State institutions, on the list who earned the Military Spouse Friendly Schools designation for 2021-22.
