SCSU honored as a top broadcast school; Husky Productions finalists for six SVG awards

St. Cloud State University was recently ranked by the Broadcast Education Association for their institutional excellence in media, ranked as the No. 5 sports program and No. 27 overall program in the country.

The rankings evaluate the quality and consistency of students’ creative works produced over the past five years. The Broadcast Education Association is the premiere international academic media organization, driving insights, excellence in media production and career advancement for educators, students and professionals.

SCSU’s student-run organization Husky Productions has also earned national recognition by being named finalists for six 2024 Sports Video Group (SVG) awards.

Husky Productions finalist categories

  • Outstanding Live Game Production | Collegiate Student – Championship | Men’s Ice Hockey: SCSU vs. Denver
  • Outstanding Live Game Production | Collegiate Student – Championship | Men’s Ice Hockey: SCSU vs. North Dakota
  • Outstanding Live Game Production | Collegiate Student – Championship | Men’s Ice Hockey: SCSU vs. Western Michigan
  • Outstanding Live Non-Game Production | Collegiate Student | Husky Faceoff: SCSU vs. Denver Pregame
  • Outstanding Live Non-Game Production | Collegiate Student | Husky Faceoff: SCSU vs. Western Michigan
  • Outstanding Special Feature – Unscripted | Collegiate Student – Championship | Husky Locker Room: Joe Molenaar

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the 16th-annual SVG College Sports Media Awards ceremony, which will be hosted at the SVG College Summit in the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hotel on May 29.

SCSU has a strong tradition of offering award-winning programs and opportunities to students, including Husky Productions, UTVS, KVSC, University Chronicle and more.
