TEDxStCloud will take place on Oct. 10 at the Paramount Center for the Arts, featuring multiple speakers with SCSU ties to share “ideas worth spreading.”
The six-speaker lineup features Biology professor Marina Cetkovic-Cvrlje and former American Indian Center director Jim Knutson-Kolodzne.
Cetkovic-Cvrlje is a medical doctor and immunologist who has dedicated her life to researching autoimmune type 1 diabetes and has been at SCSU for nearly two decades. Knustson-Kolodzne is a member of the Ottawa Nation and has held several positions within American Indian education for more than 30 years, nearly half of which came at SCSU.
The independently organized event, licensed by TED, is locally organized to bring the community together to share a TED-like experience. Students from UTVS will do the live broadcast again this year, while Mass Communications student Kaitlyn Randall designed the logo and graphics for the event.
“TEDxStCloud is the perfect showcase of the talent SCSU has to offer,” said Heidi Everett, associate professor of mass communications and TEDxStCloud core planning team member. “Every year, our alumni, faculty, students and staff leave their mark in some way on this thought-provoking community event.”
Tickets are available for $45.50. A pre-show reception will be held at the Gnarly Bard Theater from 5-6 p.m. on Oct. 10, while TEDx St. Cloud runs from 6:30-9 p.m. For more information about TEDxStCloud, visit www.tedxstcloud.com.
