Leadership from St. Cloud State University and North Hennepin Community College joined together on Nov. 15 to officially welcome NHCC as an EDVANTAGE partner, becoming the third two-year school in the Minnesota State system to ally with SCSU on their innovative program for transfer students.
The SCSU Transfer EDVANTAGE Program is designed for students who want to begin their college experience at a Minnesota State community college but are seeking an attainable path to a bachelor’s degree.
EDVANTAGE is a program where students pursue their Transfer Pathway associate degree or Associate of Arts degree at a Minnesota State community college and then spend two additional years at SCSU completing their bachelor’s degree.
“We are pleased to work closely with North Hennepin Community College and grow the partnership between our two institutions,” SCSU Interim President Larry Dietz said. “The St. Cloud State EDVANTAGE program takes a unique comprehensive approach that makes the transfer process clear and accessible for students.”
Students have the benefits of early access to SCSU advising, guaranteed admission to SCSU upon completion of their community college program and a $500 EDVANTAGE scholarship awarded during their first semester at SCSU.
“This partnership embodies our shared commitment to providing students with clear, attainable pathways to bachelor’s degrees,” said NHCC President Rolando García. “By aligning our programs and resources, we are better equipped to serve our students and communities, fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual support.”
Friday’s official signing was also followed by an intercampus leadership meeting, where SCSU and NHCC administrators discussed how they can work together to effectively serve students.
