When St. Cloud State University thrives, so does the surrounding community. When the greater St. Cloud community thrives, so does SCSU. To help fortify this connection, the University created the Husky Community Engagement Fund in fall 2025.
The Husky Community Engagement Fund provides SCSU’s president with the opportunity to make strategic investments in community-focused initiatives and programs that will enhance the relationships between the surrounding region and the University. When it was first announced in 2025, an anonymous donor offered to match the first $100,000 in donations if the goal was reached by Dec. 31, 2025.
As Dr. Gregory Tomso arrived on campus as St. Cloud State’s 26th president this week, he was able to announce to campus during convocation Jan. 6 that the community met the match goal.
“To arrive on campus to not just a warm welcome, but an outpouring of support from the community is such a promising introduction to SCSU,” Tomso said. “I’m excited to see what our University and the greater St. Cloud area can accomplish together moving forward.”
As of Jan. 6, the Husky Community Engagement Fund and the donor match had raised $200,000 toward strengthening St. Cloud State and its ties to the surrounding region.
“The overwhelming support this initiative has received has been inspiring,” said Dr. Mark Parsons, interim vice president for SCSU Advancement & Alumni Engagement. “Together, we can impact #OurSCSU community for generations to come.”
