Gary Mason, a longtime Methodist clergyman who played an integral role in the Northern Ireland peace process, will conduct a mini-lecture tour on reconciliation March 15-17 at three Minnesota institutions.
Mason begins his tour with a talk on the role of memory in reconciliation at 7 p.m. March 15 in Brown Hall, Room 108, at St. Cloud State University. This event is free and open to the public.
He will lecture at 7 p.m. March 16 on the role of faith in reconciliation in QUAD-170 at St. John’s University and wrap up his lecture tour with another talk on the role of faith in reconciliation at 4:15 p.m. March 17 at Hamline University.
Mason is the founding director of Rethinking Conflict, a Belfast non-profit conflict transformation organization working for peacebuilding and reconciliation.
Mason’s visit is initiated and sponsored by the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education together with St. John’s University and Hamline University. The St. Cloud State event is co-sponsored by the Department of Communication Studies and the American Democracy Project.
