ABC Newspapers — Doug Borglund ’95 joined the city May 2 as Anoka’s new deputy director of community development.
The city has been without a dedicated community development staff person since Erik Thorvig left to take a development director position with the city of Blaine last fall.
“Doug has nearly two decades of experience in the economic and community development field,” City Manager Greg Lee said. “This, combined with fact that he was the community development director of a similar city, with similar issues, makes him the perfect person for this position.”

Originally from St. Paul, Borglund and his family live in Hugo, where his kids attend junior high and high school. He is a graduate of St. Cloud State University, where he earned degrees in local urban affairs and psychology.
