South West News Media — The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum will feature five local artists trained in the Asian brush style in a contemplative show, ‘A Brush With Beauty: Painting in the Chinese Tradition’ July 1 – Sept. 18.
Inspired by the groundbreaking of the new Chinese Garden at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, this exhibition will display five local artists, Kairong Liu, Bob Schmitt ,Yudong Shen, Lei Yang, Hong Zhang, brought together for the first time. In this place, the viewer is able to contemplate the variety of ways the artists convey beauty, energy and form. Originally trained in the Asian brush style, each has evolved their unique skills to create works of art.
Show events include ‘Explore the Exhibition,’ with tours, talks and treats. The evening will include a guided tour of the exhibition and a chance to meet the artists and listen to a talk by Chinese garden/culture expert Dr. Carol Brash of St. Cloud State University. 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, Macmillan Auditorium.
