St. Cloud State — They grew up not far from each other in and around Madison, Wisconsin.
But it was at St. Cloud State where Heather Miller-Koch and Ryan Koch first crossed paths.
“We met on her recruiting trip,” recalled Ryan, who was already a football and track and field standout for the Huskies.

And it was the beginning of a shared goal, one that was finally realized when Heather qualified for the Olympic games with a second-place finish in the heptathlon at the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 10 in Eugene, Oregon.
Now she will be on her sport’s biggest stage when competition in the two-day event begins on Aug. 12 in Rio de Janeiro.
And, as he has been every step of the way, Ryan will be there with her. Not just as her supportive spouse, but as her coach as well.
