Six persons, including an Iron Range resident and an Iron Range native, were appointed Friday to fill vacancies on the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Board of Trustees.
Appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton, the individuals will join the 15-member board, which is responsible for governing MnSCU’s system planning, academic programs, fiscal management, personnel, admissions requirements, tuition and fees, and rules and regulations.
Dayton stated in a release that those appointed are well equipped to help guide the future of MnSCU, and ensure its students receive world-class educations.
Among those appointed is Jerry Janezich of Side Lake, who’s part owner of Jerry & Tom’s in Chisholm. He represented District 5B in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1989 to 1992 and District 5 in the Minnesota Senate from 1993 to 2000.
Janezich attended Hibbing Community College and graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor of science in speech.
