The St. Cloud State University Foundation selected Deeann J. Griebel ’76 as its 2017 Visionary Award recipient, and she will be recognized at the Foundation’s annual Gala on Thursday, October 13. The Visionary Award is given annually to an individual who has made a significant philanthropic contribution to St. Cloud State.
A native of Pipestone, Minnesota, Griebel received her B.S.in Physical Education from St.Cloud State University in 1976. During her time at St. Cloud State, she participated in the Honors program and women’s swimming, track and cross country.
She first taught K-12 health and high school business before deciding to pursue an accounting career. She received her Accounting degree from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, in 1980 and received her CPA certificate in Arizona three years later.
Griebel became a Financial Advisor in 1984. She currently serves as the Managing Director of Investments for the Phoenix Branch of Moors & Cabots. Prior to her time at Moors & Cabot, Griebel worked for Wells Fargo Advisors and was selected as one of the firm’s Premier Advisors from 2004 through 2012. In 2007, she was honored with the Wachovia Way award for her personal and professional achievements.
Griebel has supported a variety of St. Cloud State University priorities, including faculty development and scholarships, endowing the Dee Griebel Honors Student Scholarship and the Earl H. Potter Memorial Scholarship. She also has made significant gifts in support of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center and the Centennial Hall Building fund. She has also been a member of the Foundation’s President’s Club since 1997.
Griebel also served on our Alumni Association Board from 1997-1998. She has been a President’s Club member since 1997 and is a member of our Heritage Society. In 2002, Dee received the Alumni Service Award from the Alumni Association.
