The app offers easy access to campus safety resources as well as quick-call and GPS features that connect you to Public Safety’s mobile blue light, safety escorts and friend walk services.
“This app is another resource to help keeping campus safety using a platform that will be more comfortable and accessible for many of our students to use,” said Jesse Cashman, assistant vice president of safety and risk management.
The new friend walk service through the app allows users to send their location in real-time to a friend so they can watch you as you walk to your destination and trigger a call to emergency services if necessary.
Similar to the blue light phones around campus, the mobile blue light feature lets you simultaneously send your location and call SCSU Public Safety. They will receive your location in real time and be able to talk to you on the phone.
“Leveraging the technology we carry in our pockets every day, the Safe @ St. Cloud app will help improve how quickly we can respond to campus safety needs,” Cashman said.
The app uses the AppArmor platform that is used on college campus throughout the country and internationally including UCLA, University of Florida and UND.
