ST. CLOUD TIMES — Boaters will still be able to access the Mississippi River above the Sartell dam in August, but they’ll have to look out for rocks and logs tossed or exposed in a drawdown of the water level.
A planned three-foot drawdown of the Sartell Pool and Little Rock Lake will affect more than 800 properties along the watershed and river, as well as the non-residents who come for recreation on the public water. It’s scheduled for August 1 through September 15.
About 150 people packed the Old Village Hall in Rice on Wednesday evening to learn about the drawdown and pose questions to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The Conflict Resolution Center with St. Cloud State University moderated small discussions about the drawdown and synthesized questions from people at the hearing. DNR Area Fisheries Manager Eric Altena and other staff responded to concerns on the spot.
