Following a national search, Joe Trubacz has accepted the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration at St. Cloud State University and will join the leadership team on July 15.
Incoming President Robbyn Wacker, whose appointment was announced on May 17, had the opportunity to provide input on the selection.
Joe comes to St. Cloud State with more than 25 years of experience in higher education in finance, planning and institutional research. He has been serving as the regional vice chancellor for administration and finance at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Previously he served in senior financial administrative roles at Colorado School of the Mines and the University of Alaska System in Fairbanks, Alaska.
He served for many years at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he served in a variety of roles including vice chancellor for administrative services, director of financial services, director of Planning, Analysis and Institutional Research and as an executive officer for the Institute of Northern Engineering/Arctic Region Supercomputing Center.
He served more than 20 years as a medical service corps officer in the United States Air Force where his service included active duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves.

He has volunteered professionally with the American Heart Association in Anchorage, Alaska, which he served as treasurer and chairperson and with the Society of Research Administrators. He has also served as chair and member of several committees at the institutions he’s served, and as a coach for cross country and track and field at North Pole High School in North Pole, Alaska.
“Joe brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments in finance and administration at both the system and campus level,” said St. Cloud State Interim President Ashish Vaidya. “His commitment to student success and seeking collaborative ways to continue SCSU’s path to financial sustainability will be a great addition to the leadership team under new President Wacker.”
Joe earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire, Durham New Hampshire and his Master of Business Administration from New Hampshire College. He passed his certified Research administrator exam in 2000.
As Vice President, Trubacz will lead the division that includes business services, facilities, human resources, bookstore operations, food services and public safety.
