ST. CLOUD TIMES — For Philando Castile’s mother, Valerie Castile, every day is a struggle.
“Can you imagine looking down the barrel of a gun? Imagine that and imagine people saying ‘it can’t be that bad,'” Valerie said.
More than two years after her 32-year-old son was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Falcon Heights, Valerie still has no closure. But she has a path, she said, and it is to help others have conversations about the subject and to help those affected by gun violence.
Valerie, 62, hopes more people will have conversations about race and gun violence and will work together to decrease the loss of life.
On Nov. 7, Valerie spoke at St. Cloud State University’s “Women on Wednesday” talk. It was one of her latest activities as a community activist.
