ST. CLOUD TIMES — Mynul Khan ’04 lost his first job after graduating from St. Cloud State University due to the Great Recession. Next, he launched a business that grew to employ hundreds of people.
Khan created an online marketplace called Field Nation that connects technicians with businesses.
He talked about the growing gig economy — and his company’s place in it — at St. Cloud State’s Winter Institute, which kicked off Thursday. The economic program is focused on immigration this year.
Khan came from Bangladesh to St. Cloud State, which offered in-state tuition to international students at the time. He stayed because he felt “love and friendship” here and graduated in 2004. He spoke through a video connection Thursday, due to the bad weather.
Khan started Field Nation in 2008, at a time when the gig economy was taking off.
