ST. CLOUD TIMES — When you haven’t lost a dual wrestling match in over three years, it’s hard to keep track of the win total.
St. Cloud State its broke own NCAA Division II record last weekend with its 55th-straight dual match victory, and the Huskies extended that streak to 58 wins after a tight 17-16 win over McKendree University to claim their fourth-consecutive DII National Duals Title.
But if you ask the wrestlers who haven’t tasted team defeat since January of 2017, the number has very little meaning.
“It’s in the back of your head, but you’re not going out there and thinking this is number … 57? I don’t even know what number we’re on,” senior 171-pounder Kolton Eischens said. “Coach doesn’t talk about it all, but hopefully we can keep the (win streak) going.”
