Higher Education Administration Assistant Professor Dr. Brittany Williams earned an AAUW American Publication Grant.
AAUW’s Short-Term Research Publication Grants are part of the American Fellowships program, which provides fellowships for women pursuing full-time study to complete dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research full time or preparing research for publication in eight consecutive weeks.
Williams teaches in the master’s and doctoral programs in Higher Education Administration. The topic and working title of her manuscript is “Now I work for a local government, and I get paid more to do less; Pay Inequity in Higher Education Workplaces.” This post-doctoral study was borne out of her award-winning dissertation “I Did Everything I Was Supposed to; Black Women Administrative Professionals’ Push Out and Opt-Out of Higher Education”.
Williams holds a doctorate in College and Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia. She focuses her research and advocacy on social class, black women and girls’ career progression, identity development, sexual health and engagement in activism. She is the co-founder of the award-winning #CiteASista digital counter-community and one of five founding members of #SisterPhD.
Her primary research agenda explores issues of career development, social class and HIV/AIDS prevention in college contexts.
AAUW awarded $3.5 million in funding to more than 200 fellows and grantees in the 2020-21 award year.
