Russell Waisanen ’16 was named Emperor of Minnesota by the Imperial Court of Minnesota, an organization that fundraises for LGBT groups around the state.
Waisanen is a member of the organization’s 30th anniversary court and was crowned Feb. 5 alongside empress Anastasia C. Principle.
Waisanen’s duties as emperor include conducting four fundraisers throughout the year for gender justice and represent Minnesota at other court crowning events throughout the country.
The Imperial Court of Minnesota was founded in 1991 with a mission to build a better community through volunteer and community outreach with an emphasis on fundraising.
Waisanen is a 2016 graduate of the Higher Education Administration master’s program and current St. Cloud State graduate student studying Social Responsibility. He also serves as a student relations and experiential learning director for the College of Health and Wellness Professions.
