St. Cloud State University campus dining options have seen a massive overhaul for the 2023-24 school year, including a new name: Huskies Dining.
The rebrand from Chartwells to Huskies Dining highlights the connection between dining and St. Cloud State University, aiming to become more recognizable for students, faculty and staff.
Beyond a new name, there are plenty of clear changes in Garvey Commons.
Revamped stations and menus are numerous. The Pantry has a new coffee maker, and Rices & Spices is a new build-your-own rice bowl station. The Deli is self-serve, including a panini press for toasted sandwiches and wraps.
The Grill and Pizza stations also have more menu options that are available by request. To accommodate made-to-order grill options, Huskies Dining now has a QR ordering system at The Grill station, where you can choose from five items to be made fresh.
Over the summer, dining options also changed in Atwood Memorial Center. Huskies Dining transformed the former BUILD Pizza by Design concept into a We Proudly Serve Starbucks named Red & Black Coffee Co. It is located in Atwood across from Affinity Plus. Click here to view hours.
There’s also now more space to park when you’re hungry for a quick bite. Hungry Huskies is the newest campus pay lot located outside of Garvey Commons. There are eight parking spaces accessible for use of students, guests, faculty and staff for dining within Garvey Commons and/or the Atwood Memorial Center. Hungry Huskies is a mobile parking payment location only and is one of seven pay lots on campus. Download the Flowbird mobile parking payment app to make paying for parking at SCSU easier, safer and faster than ever.
Garvey Commons will celebrate it’s 60th anniversary in September. Garvey Commons, named for Beth Porter Garvey who was the first dean of women, was built in 1963 and has since been remodeled to ensure students have a comfortable and modern environment. To celebrate the anniversary, Garvey Commons is hosting a “Joy-Ful for Garvey” event on Sept. 12. During the event, Huskies Dining will have a special menu, activities and prizes from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Cost is $13, and you can pay with your meal plan, cash or credit card.
