Grand Rapids Herald Review — The Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin boys hockey team will have a new coach leading the program this season with Grant Clafton ’08 stepping into the head coaching role.
After spending seven years as an assistant coach, Clafton said he was ready to take the next step and lead a program on the rise.
“I felt this was a challenge I was ready for,” he said. “It’s a program that’s up and coming and I have the utmost respect for what Pat (Guyer) and ‘Bird’ (Jim Lawson) did and the work they put in.
“It’s a great opportunity to develop kids and help the program.

For Greenway Activities Director Dan Mell, Clafton brings energy and enthusiasm to the program, where he believes Clafton can continue to build from the youth levels up.
“He’s got such a diverse hockey background,” Mell said. “He’s coached hockey at the youth levels up to select and elite levels. He played professionally with Utah of the ECHL and in college at St. Cloud State.
