SCSU students connect with local employers during annual Career Day

St. Cloud State University held its annual Career Day on Sept. 20 in the Atwood Memorial Center Ballroom, giving students the opportunity to connect and network with companies and employers looking to hire.

SCSU students of all levels and majors interacted and met with representatives from over 75 companies while gaining exposure to a broad spectrum of career paths such as internships, full-time and part-time positions, and more.

Minnesota Secretary of State visits SCSU to speak about importance of voting

St. Cloud State University welcomed Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon to campus on Sept. 18 to speak to students, faculty, staff and the community about the importance of voting and being civically involved within the state of Minnesota.

Secretary Simon presented to campus about why people should vote, how they can register to vote and what the process is to vote while engaging young voters and expressing to everyone the importance of having their voice heard.

SCSU partnering to help students explore career opportunities

St. Cloud State University is partnering with other community businesses, organizations and institutions to help area high school students explore career opportunities and potential interests in higher education.

SCSU is a partner for the annual Exploring Potential Interests & Careers (EPIC) event, which takes place Oct. 27 at St. Cloud Technical & Community College featuring about 5,000 area high school students.

SCSU holding multiple events on campus during Huskies Days of Caring

St. Cloud State University students, faculty and staff have the opportunity to participate in a week-long series of events during the week of Sept. 18-22 during “Huskies Days of Caring.”

In collaboration with the United Way of Central Minnesota’s Days of Caring 2023, SCSU’s Department of Campus Involvement is hosting multiple events to provide opportunities to volunteer throughout campus.

SCSU Student Veterans Organization leads annual Patriot Day Flag Raising

The St. Cloud State University’s Veterans Resource Center and Student Veterans Organization sponsored and organized the 2023 Patriot Day Flag Raising on Sept. 11, observing and reflecting on the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Marking the 22nd anniversary of events that occurred on Sept. 11, those assembled outside the Administrative Services Building took a moment of silence to remember those who died in the attacks, including 343 firefighters and 60 police officers.

SCSU to host three renowned poets during “A Reading and Conversation” event

St. Cloud State University’s Department of English and Creative Writing program is partnering with area institutions to welcome three renowned poets to campus in September.

turing poets Ilya Kaminsky, Valzhyna Mort and Nikola Madzirov. The event is a partnership between SCSU, the Literary Arts Institute of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, and Central Lakes College’s Verse Like Water poetry series.

SCSU students take part in annual Meet the Firms event

The St. Cloud State University Department of Accounting held its annual Meet the Firms in the Atwood Memorial Center on Sept. 7, building off a record-setting attendance record that was set last year.

Meet the Firms, which saw a record of more 175 students attend on campus in 2022, brings together students at all levels of SCSU’s Accounting program to meet face-to-face with potential employers with a focus on learning about the profession.
