A beautiful diversity of living things have been sown and harvested in the St. Cloud State University Community Garden – all because 17 years ago Tracy Ore planted her vision and her knees on a scrubby patch of campus land on Fifth Avenue.
One of the most notable senior capstone projects Mitch Bender’s environmental and technological studies students ever undertook was development of an eight-year plan for the SCSU Community Garden in its early years – a blueprint for its future and the groundwork for an irrigation system and other critical components.
Sydney Wittnebel ’19 found the perfect placement after graduating with a degree in Accounting. She interned and then accepted an offer with Schlenner Wenner & Co., a mid-sized St. Cloud accounting firm giving her the opportunity to work with both big and small companies while also focusing on volunteering and having an influence on her professional community.
At the end of his freshman year, Jefferson Carson had some tough decisions to make if he wanted to remain a student. He’d come to St. Cloud State as an athlete but was later cut from his team. Without his role as an athlete, Carson felt disconnected from campus life. But all that was about to change.
Dr. Katherina Pattit is the new dean of the Herberger Business School (HBS) (July 1, 2022), one of the few accredited business schools in the State of Minnesota, with a track record of excellence in preparing business leaders.
In August, Nic Katona was appointed Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement at St. Cloud State, a position previously held by Matt Andrew before his retirement last June.
St. Cloud State University alumnus and adjunct professor Tim Johnson ’11 ’13 appeared on the popular game show “Wheel of Fortune” on Nov. 7, taking home nearly $40,000 in cash and prizes.
Johnson has taught in the Department of Mass Communications since 2014, and he also works as a Recruitment Marketing Specialist for CentraCare.
St. Cloud State University hosted The Minnesota Hip Hop and Education Summit on Nov. 4 in the Atwood Memorial Center.
The Minnesota Hip Hop and Education Summit, organized by Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management Dr. Jason Woods and English professor Dr. Michael Dando, was a one-day festival for teachers, community members and artists featuring events and activities throughout the day to celebrate hip hop and learn about its use in educational spaces.
Dr. Kim Greer has been appointed as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at St. Cloud State University.

This new addition to the St. Cloud State Career Center’s collection of virtual resources gives students the freedom to practice interview skills from their own devices.
