In the midst of COVID-19
I have never been so proud of our Huskies community. When we began the spring semester in January, we did so with enthusiasm for new classes, opportunities and a vision for what it means to be a regional comprehensive university going forward. In fact, in the fall/winter edition of this magazine, I wrote of this enthusiasm and changes on the horizon: “It’s time to take proactive steps to boldly alter the way we operate to better serve this new generation of students.”

One of the dimensions of Our Husky Compact is to “Act with Personal Integrity and Civic Responsibility” which encourages self-awareness and personal and civic identity, and making a difference in the civic life of our communities. We have an opportunity to act and make a difference in the communities in Minneapolis that have been directly impacted this past week.
Reflective response to a tragic situation
Jani and I watched the video. I have been reflecting on the unnecessary and tragic death of Mr. George Floyd and over these past three days I have been trying to find a way – as a person and as your President – to articulate my feelings of anguish and frustration. I would like to share the following with you.
April 30: University community COVID-19 case
A member of the St Cloud State University community reported that they have been diagnosed with lab confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus). Once someone is lab confirmed with COVID-19, the Minnesota Department of Health conducts an investigation about the nature and circumstances of the case. For this case, they have determined that the risk of exposure at our university is low and similar to the exposure one might have while being out in the community.
President’s Message: Huskies Snack Packs
To our students still living and working on campus, we will be putting together Huskies Snack Packs for each of you to pick up on Wednesday, April 29 to have while you study.
