Since my first major address at convocation this fall, I have invited the campus community to join me in making St. Cloud State a university of first choice in Minnesota. To some that sounds like a bold statement – to be first choice. It is not so bold when that goal is realistic and attainable. In the proof, it’s obvious.
The heinous killing of the innocent Jewish men and women worshipping in the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh was an unimaginable act of violence. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those who have felt the impact, particularly members of the Jewish community and those with family and friends in Pittsburgh.

St. Cloud State University’s 24th president was inaugurated Monday. President Robbyn Wacker is the first permanently-appointed female president to lead the university.
President Wacker embraced a warm welcome by St. Cloud community and campus members on Sept. 20.

President Robbyn Wacker has a message of hope for her first Convocation President’s Address. “I am excited to begin this journey with you as we embrace the opportunities that exist in the challenges we face, and as we work together to bring out the best in our students and our university.”
President Robbyn Wacker spoke at the university’s fall convocation Tuesday at Ritsche Auditorium. The event also kicked off the university’s yearlong sesquicentennial celebration, which culminates with the university’s “birthday” on Sept. 15, 2019.
