Biography

Rebecca Kotz is an advocate, community organizer, educator, speaker, and writer. Over the years, she founded several community organizations focused on ending patriarchal violence and has over ten years of experience in anti-violence and social justice advocacy. She created the first Safe Harbor program in central Minnesota for survivors of the sex trade. She also created the first court-ordered accountability program in central Minnesota for men who perpetrate sexual exploitation. She has experience in sexual assault and relationship counseling, community organizing, consulting, program creation and facilitation, curriculum development, technical assistance, professional training, policy and protocol development, research, advocacy and analytical writing, lobbying, and criminal/legal systems change. 

 

Her approach to the anti-violence movement is rooted in primary prevention, confronting the normalization of abuse, and addressing the various scales of interpersonal to state-sanctioned violence. Kotz is passionate about queer feminist leadership and advocacy, liberatory education, and connecting students with their collective power to create systemic change.
