CIAS faculty Mark Schmidt and Erich Rice completed a speaker series at Leech Lake Tribal College (LLTC). Schmidt and Rice spoke to LLTC students, faculty and staff about several topics including the CySP scholarship program, password cracking with Hashcat, digital forensics with FTK, and biometric techniques. St. Cloud State University students participated in the Minnesota statewide CCDC competition Feb. 6. They finished in fifth place out of 13 teams. The St. Cloud State students gave a team effort and showed dedication. All team members prepared for the event since September 2020. The competition was held remotely due to COVID-19, so St.

They found it interesting to learn about crimes involving digital evidence, searches, seizures, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, drones and other technologies, and how they can be used to solve crime.
