St. Cloud Times – If there’s one thing Maria Hauer is up for, it’s a challenge.
It all started when the St. Cloud State three-sport athlete and Little Falls High School graduate was born deaf.
She couldn’t hear until she underwent seven surgeries and started to work with speech therapists in preschool.
“I can hear 60 to 80 percent in both ears at times now,” Hauer said. “When I’m in some bigger classrooms, it’s harder for me and it’s about 50 percent. When that happens, I just record the lecture on my iPad and listen to it later on.”
