Professor Robert C. Johnson led about 40 students and faculty from St. Cloud State University during a visit to the U.S. Embassy in Vientiane, Laos, on Jan. 4. The stop was arranged as part of the Thailand-Laos-Malaysia short-term Education Abroad Program.

The group met with the Ambassador Daniel Clune, who gave them a briefing and answered questions about U.S.-Lao relations.

The U.S. Embassy was one stop on their tour of Laos where they also spent time learning about the Lao educational system, as well as the uniqueness and rich cultural heritage of Laos.

The faculty-led short-term Thailand-Laos-Malaysia program is conducted by Johnson from Ethnic and Women’s Studies, Shoua Yang from Political Science and Shahzad Ahmad from Multicultural Student Services.
