The show features 26 pieces of artwork by St. Cloud State alumni opens the 2016-17 Creative Art Series. The pieces in the show were chosen by juror Michael Strand ’94 ’96. Strand is an associate professor and head of the visual arts at North Dakota State University.
The exhibition is free for the public to view during gallery hours — 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays. The gallery is located at 921 W. St. Germain St.
The juried exhibition is the first of 11 Creative Art Series events to be held throughout the 2016-17 academic year. A reception for the exhibit will be 6-8 p.m. Sept. 16 at the gallery in conjunction with Celebrate St. Cloud State events.
For the third year, the Creative Art Series is enhancing student learning and broadening public perspectives through art, music, film and theater.
Most visiting artists in the School of the Arts’ Creative Art Series will offer a master class workshop for students and present a public performance to open the experience to members of the public. The series also includes events by St. Cloud State’s own students.
The Alumni Art Show is being held in conjunction with the St. Cloud State Alumni Association, Office of Alumni Relations, Paramount Center for the Arts and the South Side University Neighborhood Association.
