ST. CLOUD TIMES — Laurie Soderman watched her son compete on TV this week against more than 100 athletes from around the world, and she couldn’t sit still.
Her youngest son, Kyle Soderman, took his parkour skills to the obstacles on “Ultimate Beastmaster” — a reality show similar to “American Ninja Warrior.”
Kyle earned the title of “Beastmaster” and a $10,000 prize. He also made it to the finals, where he placed third among dozens of competitors from Italy, France, China, India, Spain and the U.S.
“I literally was jumping up and down, acting like a kid,” Laurie said. “It was surreal. I’m watching this show that I watch all the time with Kyle. And he’s on it.”
Netflix filmed the show in California in late 2016, as Kyle completed his degree at St. Cloud State University. He studied real estate and plans to use his prize money toward the purchase of a rental property.
