St. Cloud State University is unveiling its months-long rebranding work with the launch of its new Unleash campaign.
The new campaign comes after research, strategic planning, connection plan development and creative development with branding partner BVK and marketing partners from throughout campus.

“Unleash is about more than being the best student you can be and living up to your academic potential,” said Interim President Ashish Vaidya. “Unleash is about living with purpose, and using your unique gifts and talents to make an impact on those around you and moving the world forward.”
The rebranding launch is one of the university’s six-month goal areas to achieve St. Cloud State’s fall 2018 recruitment and retention goals. The primary focus of the goal area is to more effectively and clearly tell St. Cloud State’s story to stakeholders, especially prospective students, current students, alumni and friends and the community.
The Unleash brand gives the university a fresh look and focus. It also clearly identifies St. Cloud State’s competitive advantage: We unleash passion, pride, ideas, greatness, amazing … and all that’s within you. Futures that begin here might seem unassuming at first but, like the Mississippi River that flows alongside our campus, they quickly gather strength. Growing. Surging. Until they’re seemingly unstoppable.

“The Unleash brand sets St. Cloud State apart in the higher education landscape,” said Adam Hammer, executive director of marketing and communications. “Our story is impressive and the Unleash creative platform is the perfect vehicle to carry our story and engage with constituents.”
The Unleash campaign will roll out in early 2018 with broad placements on social media, search platforms, digital networks, video preroll, billboards and other high-visibility opportunities.
Beautiful montage – just a little disappointed that the final frame isn’t St. Cloud – looks like Minneapolis, maybe?

St. Cloud State helped me find myself in 1977-81. Indeed, the university unleashed my potential. Love the video. It will play very well on screens. #unleashSCSU

I’m excited about this campaign! My experience as a faculty member is that our students leave SCSU with newfound purpose and confidence, and the ability to be global citizens in whichever community they live and work in. We truly do unleash their potential!

Hi Bre. Thanks so much for being a part of the campaign and for answering the call! We absolutely will be developing more the photos and videos that we gathered. Our plan is to use everyone in some capacity throughout our campaign work.
What I love about the video aside from all the excellent imagery is the fact that it was created primarily by us and for us – our students, our faculty, our staff and our alumni all contributed to the creation – it speaks to who we are proving yet again that when we come together we do amazing things. We work hard and we strive to do better every day. #unleashcollaboration
Hello everyone, I am a first-year grad student in the Strategic Mass Communication department. I think this rebranding idea is very unique and it really stands out with regards to what I have seen used in other universities. I did my undergraduate degree at Univerity of California Davis, and none of their rebranding/short clips beats the competitive edge that is apparent in this 15-second video!
