St. Cloud State Interim Provost Dan Gregory has been appointed Provost by President Robbyn Wacker effective March 20.
Gregory continues to act as the university’s chief academic officer and serves as the institutional leader in the president’s absence.
“I have been working closely with Dr. Dan Gregory over these past 8 months and experience him to be honest, trustworthy and someone who has unwavering personal integrity. He is smart, strategic, and thoughtful,” Wacker said. “I have been impressed with his ability to listen closely, to thoroughly analyze questions and to communicate clearly. He is hard working and holds himself to high standards of accountability and responsibility.”
As the second-ranking officer of the university, Gregory provides:
- leadership for the University’s overall academic, budgetary and planning processes
- oversight of its academic programs, research, global programs, enrollment and student affairs
Gregory, who holds a doctorate in physical organic chemistry from Iowa State University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with honors from Southwest State University, Marshall, was first hired in 1999 as assistant professor of chemistry. In 2006, he was named chair of the Department of Chemistry, a position he held for three years.
In 2014, Dr. Gregory was named Dean of the College of Science and Engineering where he created partnerships with science-based business and industry, upon being named Interim Provost in June 2016 by then Interim President Ashish Vaidya.
