Student Raha Omar talks about how learning about the children who died in the attack made her think about her brothers and sisters and how she could protect them. She talked about portrayals of Muslims in the media and encouraged attendees to challenge stereotypes about others when they encounter them in their own lives.
St. Cloud State University students, faculty and staff joined with community leaders March 22 to honor victims of the Christchurch, New Zealand shooting attack.
Fifty people were killed and dozens injured when a gunman attacked people at Al Noor and Linwood mosques March 15, including the youngest victim, 4-year-old Mucaad Ibrahim.
Campus and community members gathered to honor the victims and survivors
Speakers included President Robbyn Wacker, religious leaders, Mayor Dave Kleis, professors and students.
Following the presentation, attendees were invited to fill out words of encouragement for the Christchurch community.
