Alumna Sara Wainscott ’00 has won the Lexi Rudnitsky First Book Prize from Persea Books of New York for her poetry book “Insecurity System”.
The Lexi Rudinski First Book Prize honors self-identifying women who are publishing their first full-length book of poems.
The prize includes publication of the book by Persea Books, a $1,000 publishing advance and an all-expense-paid residency at Civitella Ranieri, an artist’s retreat in a 15th-century castle in Umbertide, Italy.
The contest is sponsored by the Lexi Rudnitsky Poetry Project and commemorates poet-activist Lexi Rudnitsky by promoting the type of meaningful poetry she believed in.
“Insecurity System” will be published in April 2020.
