The St. Cloud State University Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program earned provisional accreditation from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology this November.

The program was praised for outstanding faculty, having an interdisciplinary curriculum, strong advising and the synergistic work between the chemistry and biology departments. Reviewers also recognized the program for its recruitment with a healthy increase in students entering the program since its launch in 2016.

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is an undergraduate program that prepares students for advanced studies or a career in medicine, health, biotechnology, material science or agriculture. The program features hands-on experience through student-faculty collaborative research.

The provisional status is for four years and the program will be reviewed for full accreditation in October 2023.
