St. Cloud State University’s 54th annual Juried Student Art Exhibit opened virtually this May with a virtual reality gallery and an online format.

The virtual exhibit showcases the work of a number of senior art students. In all 22 works are included the exhibit by 20 students in a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, graphic design, print, photography, sculpture, etching, photomontage and 3D printing.

Dr. Bill Gorcica, with students Bigyan Lama Thing and Ben Toftey, worked in consultation with Mark Gill from the Visualization Lab to develop the virtual exhibit. Juror Mary Bruno viewed the work in online format and chose the juror’s choice awards.

The art department sponsors the Student Art Exhibit each spring to give students a chance to enter their works in a professional juried show. The College of Liberal Arts sponsors purchases of a portion of the student works to include in the college’s collection, allowing students to learn about how to price works of art.

A virtual reality gallery allows you to immerse yourself in the gallery environment with others using most internet browsers or a VR headset.
