Kevin Revier ’11 has earned the 2019 Distinguished Dissertation Award from Binghamton University for his dissertation “Policing Pain: Opioids, Crisis, and a Shifting War on Drugs”.
The Distinguished Dissertation Award recognizes original work that makes an unusually significant contribution to the discipline. Revier is one of 12 honored for their dissertation work.
As a student at St. Cloud State, Revier won the Sociologists of Minnesota Carolyn Rose Undergraduate Essay Competition in 2011 for an essay he wrote for the Sociology of Religion Seminar class. Revier is now an assistant professor at Arcadia University in Pennsylvania, where he teaches criminal justice. His research interests include drug policy, crime, race and media.
