Taylor Mazur, of the Husky Bass Fishing Club, has qualified for the National Championships March 30-31 at Chickamauga Lake in Tennessee.
Mazur placed 26th out of 141 participants at the national championships qualifier at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina. The competition is the Abu Garcia College Fishing circuit by Major League Fishing.
“It can be a tough competition at tournament because there are so many participants,” Mazur said.
The Husky Bass Fishing Club is one of St. Cloud State’s active sport clubs. The goal of the club is to get more students involved in fishing by providing local club tournaments to get out on the water and have some fun and to give more serious tournament anglers the opportunity to compete at the next level in collegiate bass tournaments held around the country.
“I am excited to see that we have sports clubs staying active and representing the college in the best possible way,” said Delaydia Frink, St. Cloud State coordinator for competitive sports. “One of the long-term goals for our sport clubs program is to be competitive on a national level.”
