Dr. Juli Stone Pitzer is the interim director of the St. Cloud State University Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education (CHGE) for Academic Year 2022-23.
Pitzer has taught in the Department of Mass Communications for the past five years in documentary, storytelling, social media, animation, and multimedia production. During this time, she was on the Assessment Steering Committee; the College of Liberal Arts Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee; the Unleash Branding Committee; and mentored the first St. Cloud State All-Women’s Sports Broadcast in 2020.
She currently works as the internship coordinator for her department; serves on the advisory board of KVSC; is a board member of a USD 742 PTA; and a Girl Scout Troop Leader for 11 K-4 girls. Pitzer has been involved with humanitarian work and youth mentorship around the world and is a vocal advocate for students and accessibility.
With undergraduate degrees in History and Secondary Education, an Master of Art in Communication Studies – Film & Video Production, and a Ph.D. in Film & Media Studies, Pitzer is a proponent of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary practice. In 2019, she worked with History professor Dr. Rob Galler in a teaching collaboration that combined a graduate history course with a documentary production undergraduate class to cross-train students in public history storytelling.
Pitzer has worked with the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education for the last two years and currently teaches Documentary Films of the Holocaust. Pitzer looks forward to continuing the great work of the Center and partnering with colleagues on campus and in the community.
